USTA
National Tennis Center
The Center,
made up of the Arthur Ashe Stadium and the Louis Armstrong Stadium,
is open year round but it is mostly known for one thing- the US
Open. The US Open, the national championship in tennis, found
its home on Stadium Road in Forest Hills Queens in 1968. The championship
is usually scheduled from August 30th to September 12th. Dates
can change so keep up to date with that. Tickets
Although the US Open is what makes the center famous, it's not
the only time that there is action at the two stadiums. If you
love to play tennis or just watch tennis being played, you can
come to either one of the stadiums. The center is open 11 months
of the year, seven days of the week and is only closed on Thanksgiving,
Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. If you are one of those people
that know how to play tennis already you can use both the indoor
and outdoor court. Depending on the day and the time that you
go, rates may vary. For example, for the indoor court, rates can
be between $32 and $48; the outdoor court's rates can be between
$16 and $24. If you are one of those people that play baseball
with the racket and ball instead of tennis, you might want to
learn how to play. Lesson rates vary. If you want a private lesson,
it will run between $75 and $85. If you wouldn't mind being taught
in front of 1 more student, rates will still be between $75 and
$85. If you want to learn in a group of 3 to 4 people, rates will
be between $85 and $120.
Place to
Eat:
Within the direct vicinity of the center, there are numerous amounts
of pizza places as well as Chinese restaurants. You just have
to take your pick. If you want to stick to American food, Applebee's
(9525 Queens Blvd) and TGIFridays (7000 Austin Street) are very
close by.
